THE BOOKS AND BANDS BASH-DANCING UNDER THE STARS Be the Star You Are! is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to empower women, families, and youth through improved literacy and positive media.  We collect, distribute, and promote books and other positive media to women, families, and youth at risk as a way to increase literacy, decrease violence and raise life skills.

Get your party shoes on and dress to impress! Be the Star You Are!, a local literacy charity, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch of our new book, Be the Star You Are! for TEENS (ISBN:9781600376320) and a dance party, all organized by local high school teens. Party features 1+3 bands, 13 music sets, 13 raffle items, and 13 book contributors autographing the new book! Date: Sunday, September 13, 2009 Time: 4-9 PM Price: $13 in advance Place: Holy Trinity Cultural Center, 1700 School Street, Moraga, Ca. 94456 Be the Star You Are! is a volunteer organization that operates through contributions, in-kind donations, and proceeds from fund-raising events.  Be the Star You Are! does not receive state or federal funding and is solely dependent on contributions from the community and corporations. The fight against illiteracy is a continuing battle. Please join our efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution today. We want to see you there - and bring some cash!
